Yes. While we think Google Accounts is great, we also understand that it might be a little confusing deciding the best way to update your AdSense login information. To help, we've listed some best practices and steps for updating your AdSense login email and password to a Google Account. Choose the scenario that relates to you the most.
To learn if you have a Google Account, visit our
Google Accounts FAQ.
I. You manage your own AdSense account and don't have a Google Account
If you manage your own AdSense account, you can use the same AdSense email that you're currently using as your new Google Account email. However, we strongly suggest that you use a different password than your current one, just to be on the safe side.
Please also keep in mind that you won't be able to choose a Google Account that is already used to access AdSense, Book Search, or any email address that was previously used to apply for these services.
To update your login, follow these steps:
- Sign in to your AdSense account. If you're not automatically directed to the wizard, you're already using a Google Account as your login.
- Read the instructions on the first two screens and then click 'Continue' at the bottom of each page.
- In response to the question 'Which best describes you?', select 'I do not use these other services. I would like to create a new Google Account.'
- In the blue fields that appear below, enter the email address you'd like to use (which may be your current AdSense login) into the 'Email:' field. Then, enter a different password from the one you're currently using in the correct fields. Enter the security word, and read and accept the Terms and Conditions. Click 'Continue'.
- Review your login information, and click 'Update My Login.'
Once you update your login, check your email to verify that your Google Account email is correct.
II. You manage your own AdSense account and already have a Google Account
If you manage your own AdSense account and already have a Google Account email and password, we suggest you use the same Google Account information as your new AdSense login. This way, you can move easily back and forth between your Google services - without having to sign in and out each time.
You can also create a new Google Account and use it as your new AdSense login, even if you currently have a Google Account for other Google products. This will allow you to keep your AdSense account separate from other products or accounts you manage. To do so, follow the steps in section I above. However, it's important to remember that you can only be signed in to Google with one Google Account at a time.
To update your AdSense login to an existing Google Account, follow these steps:
- Sign in to your AdSense account. If you're not automatically directed to the wizard, you're already using a Google Account as your login.
- Read the instructions on the first two screens and then click 'Continue' at the bottom of each page.
- In response to the question 'Which best describes you?', select 'I have an email address and password (Google Account) I already use with Google services like Gmail, Orkut, or the personalized home page.'
- When asked 'Would you like to use your existing Google Account for AdSense?', select the first radio button corresponding to 'I'd like to use my existing Google account for AdSense.'
- Enter your current Google Account email and password you'd like to use in the appropriate fields. Click 'Continue.'
- Review your login information, and click 'Update My Login.'
Once you update your login, check your email to verify that your Google Account email is correct.
III. You share an AdSense account with others
If you share your AdSense login email and password with others, each user can create their own email and password to log in to AdSense. When you update your login information, simply use a Google Account or any email and password combination that is different from your current one and that others don't have access to.
To update your login, follow these steps:
- Sign in to your AdSense account. If you're not automatically directed to the wizard, you've signed in with an email login that has already been updated to a Google Account.
- Read the instructions on the first two screens and then click 'Continue' at the bottom of each page.
- Read the information about sharing, and click 'Continue.'
- If you don't have a Google Account or don't want to use an existing Google Account as your AdSense login, follow steps 3-5 in section I above. Remember to choose a different email and password combination than you've used in the past.
- If you want to use an existing Google Account as your AdSense login, follow steps 3-6 in section II above
